We’re off to see The Wizard, the Wonderful Wizard of Oz! Indiana State University and the Crossroads Repertory Theatre (CRT) proudly present The Wizard of Oz, brought to life in the CRT’s milestone 60th season. This beloved family classic takes center stage in Terre Haute, Indiana for the first time as a professional production, uniting Sycamore students, faculty, staff, and alumni with professional actors and stage crew from across the country for a magical summer of live theater.
Directed by Indiana State alumna Carolyn Conover, ’05, this enchanting production celebrates the timeless themes of imagination, curiosity, courage, and heart. Audiences are swept away as Dorothy (Allison Williamson, ’19) journeys through Oz, meeting the Scarecrow (Lane Harden) in search of a brain, the Tin Man (James Jordan, current Music Education major) longing for a heart, and the Cowardly Lion (Jerry Strain) seeking courage. Together, they discover that the dreams we dare to dream really can come true.
Just like Dorothy and her companions, members of the Indiana State community know the power of connection and belonging. For them, there’s no need to look “somewhere over the rainbow.” They’ve already found their home, and it’s right here at Indiana State.
