Cynthia Ramazani

Sometimes a career is a calling, and nowhere is that truth more obvious than in the story of Cynthia Ramazani. A Sycamore who came to Indiana from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Cynthia knew what she wanted to do long before she knew exactly how she’d do it. To be sure, Cynthia’s long list of career goals can be best summed up in a few short words: Cynthia Ramazani plans to change the world.

A biology major on a pre-medicine track, Cynthia has immersed herself in her education to prepare herself to take on the challenges facing many Congolese youth. Cynthia plans to pursue a master’s degree in data science to explore the ways big data can help amplify the power of medical science in treating widespread diseases like cancer. When she’s not in the classroom studying or in a lab on campus experimenting, Cynthia volunteers at a local hospital to get hands-on experience that will help her as she pursues her ultimate goal of a doctorate in pediatric medicine.

All this hard work will be worth it when Cynthia is able to return home and begin playing an active role in giving Congolese children access to the healthcare they need. Cynthia believes in the power of good healthcare and education to make a positive impact in lives around the world—and she knows her own positive impact can have a massive ripple effect for the good of her entire country.
