When Tina Simons noticed a need in the community, she decided to take action. Simons, a graduate student in the department of social work, created Vigo County Mutual Aid, a group initially created to help those struggling with hardships created by the pandemic. The group strives to connect those who need help with those who can provide assistance. With the help of classmates and guidance from Melissa McCollister, associate professor of social work, the group has grown into a self-sustaining team of volunteers dedicated to the mission that “We Belong to Each Other.”
